This is just awesome stuff. It is true that I used to believe in Bigfoot and the Yeti, but then I looked in the mirror, slapped myself in the face, and started to think straight.

Anyways, I still followed a little bit of the bigfoot news for fun (the stuff is quite entertaining and interesting at times) when I heard about this study. The man behind it is a well known geneticist from Oxford University. He was determined to find out the answers and used the best equipment to find out if these things really existed. While he hasn't released his results for Bigfoot (I heard rumors it was "inconclusive") and will on the 20th, he just released the info on his Yeti samples.

Turns out they both matched 100% with a jaw of an ancient polar bear that could be up to 120,000 years old. During this time, polar bears and brown bears were diverging into separate species. This means that the unknown bear could be a rare link between the two species, a hybrid Brown/Polar Bear. This would explain a lot since apparently a 300 year old Tibetan script was found explaining that the beast was in fact a bear.

This also means that people were truly seeing something and everyone wasn't hoaxing everything.

I think this does show that even if it seems crazy, there can be some truth behind cryptozoology and it is worth digging into.

Here's to hoping they find the thylacine alive next.

Oh and flame away:FIREdevil

So,Bigfoot is a bear.

Cmsthebest,me too...I just threw that in as a joke and it sounded better to say Bigfoot...Interesting about Alexander The Great as my son is studying him in school currently.I'll have to ask him if any references to a Yeti have come up yet.

With Polar bears being forced down to Canada we can possibly see more Polar Bear x Brown Bear mixes. Maybe this is where the Polar Bear and Brown Bear species is heading? Into one specie again?

I know that a Grizzly x Polar bear hybrid has been found, but the only reports of a brown x polar bear hybrid have come from breeding's at zoo's, which by the way have produced fertile offspring.

I thought that the yeti, Sasquatch and Bigfoot were all the same thing? Just different names. So are you saying that there's actually 2 different "bigfoots" out there? I'm still pretty skeptical about the whole thing, but then again, I don't read or watch much about the subject.

I guess some believe them to all be different species, but like I said, Bigfoot seems to be a stretch, while the Yeti seemed more plausible due to its remote location. Yeti's are the specific names for the creature in the Himalaya's, while Bigfoot and Sasquatch generally refer to the same creature, just here in north America.

I'm missing something here

I don't get how this is news concerning a yeti. from what I understand, a yeti is like a bigfoot that is a half man half ape like creature that walks upright

and here they found a bear. what does that have to do with a yeti?

so if they find a hybrid manatee, can they say or confirmed that they found a mermaid?

if anything, this story further proves that there is no yeti and that it's just a bear that people have been "sighting"
