they are at it again. lots of pics

the male is texas x flowerhorn. i will post pics once they are bigger and in a 20 gallon. right now they look like fleas with tails and they are in a 5 gallon hex. i am having a hard time doing WC because they get sucked up in the vac. i had to dump some back in the tank yesterday. there are still some moldy eggs, but i can only get so many out at once. i am doing daily WC right now so i should be able to get them all out soon.

now that they are swimming/eating, i think that there are about 30+ fry. they still look like tadpoles. i have only bred africans before this so i am not sure how long it takes before they look like fish,

i moved the fry into a bigger tank yesterday. i believe there are about 40 of them. i will try to get some pics up soon. my 3 year old daughter is starting to use the computer now so i have to share. i will get some up asap though.

these things eat like pirahnas. they are growing like crazy. i can see that they all got the fan tail. you can see their little flowerlines developing. they vary alot in length and body style. some of them look very long. some of them look like they are going to be tall and shorter bodied. they can eat bloodworms now. i am feeding them 5 times a day and one of the feedings is frozen or dehydrated bloodworms. they fight over the first few to thaw out of the block.they are already learning to beg. every time i go to let the dogs out the back door, they all rush to the glass. there are about 4 or 5 that seem to be getting out competed for food, because they are not growing as quickly. i may try to put then in with my regular zz fh fry when they get bigger.

Looking good! I want that thermometer..

my daughter likes it too. i will look and see if they have more. it was pretty cheap so i could send one if you are serious.

BTW the mother's head is poking out of the tunnel. when i seperated them to breed him to a fh, she faded and turned this ugly white orangy yellow blotchy color. as soon as i put him back in with her, she turned dark orangy red within an hour or two. i think she is in love. they spawned again, but i don't want any more babies right now so i didn't help them at all and they ate the eggs.

they are getting pearls and half of them have nice proportionate bodies. some are shorter than others but none are short bodied. some of them are about an inch and there are 3 or 4 that are very small still. some of the small ones look to be turning out nice though. i hope they don't end up getting out competed for food. i really want some faders out of these fry. some of them have the juvenile parrot stripes so i am hoping those will fade.
