A long time ago, I had a 9-10" Red Devil that would rush my hand, stop just short of it and then ease in close and give me a nip. I responded by waiting until he was in attack mode and just before he reached my hand, I would abruptly extend my fingers in a fan-shaped pattern. This would stop him dead in his tracks and after about a week, he stopped attacking me.

I mess with them every time my hands are in the tank.

I usually tire them out by using the siphon for awile,then the algea brush gets a beaten and finally if i need to rearrange ,i face whatever rage is still left in them

They make good use of their teeth,as when they bite you they grab TIGHT and then violently shake so as to give their teeth a serrating action.I have marks similar to yours all week long every day,as i want my lone FH to develop a mean KOK,so he chases my hand around the tank,then i let him assert his dominance with a bite Makes him tougher than he should be when he has someone to spar with!!

These 2 bites were the worst.
