They're here....

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
This isn't a company thing, it's a holding tank/wild behavior type injury. This type of injury is typically a bite.

Ive gotten fish from rapps that were in pretty bad shape not knocking him but itis what it is. Remember the bumble bee oscar amd the sd's...looked like they went through a meat grinder.

Its though this is what i hate about ordering fish instead of having a cool lfs

Personally, at an LFS. I once passed on getting an awesome thick wild Nigerian lap due to the first finlet being halfway gone. Figured it would take too long to grow back.

They grow back. My pbb broke one in shipping when I got him, what, 2 months ago?

It's already back to 100%.

Well it appeared to be severed in half, so it grew back from that point. I don't think I have any pics of it unfortunately.

lol, we need to start a whole topic on finlet regrowth. I will try and get a better pic of just the broken tip of the first finlet and then keep you guys updated as to what happens.

New fish in qt still, tonight I do a water change and then second round of parasite meds.

The Koliba is a great eater and loves tilapia, but has also eaten market shrimp and krill. Ive only seen the endli eat two little chunks of shrimp on day one (Saturday) and then nothing else. It may have had a little shrimp or krill during the night but there was quite a bit left over in the morning so im thinking it did not touch it. Only had the fish now for about 4 1/2 days so not too concerned but what fun is it to have an awesome looking bichir that wont eat for you. Pretty much like watching my weeksii, lol. It will not eat at all with lights on. I throw a ton of food in, turn the lights off and come in to a fish with a full belly in the morning.

I really need to get these guys off the light sand, they are really washed out looking. While my 300g has a light sand it is nowhere near as white looking. It has a more tan base and the weeksii and teugelsi look really good on it. Shooting for Saturday to move the new bichirs over but really would like to see the endli eat first but it will probably feel less stressed in the big tank.

Wow lots of talkie, talkie and no pics, lol

I picked up an awesome trick from Frank a while back to stimulate bicher appetite. I've got mine trained to realize that once the powerhead shuts off, food is about to follow. I do this during the early evening and they start going wild once the flow slows. They come to familiarize the powerhead turning off with food coming soon.

The Koliba has already associated movement outside the tank as something special, lol. The endli isnt that quick to figure it out.

Good idea on the signal for the fish.

Fed the fish tilapia today and the endli ate and ate and probaly would have ate more if I let him. So Im happy with that! Still no good color but then again very light sand in the qt tank. Cant wait to see them in the 300g.
