Ive always said someone was in a surprise if they tried to rob my family members house because this guy is never home cause of work but lived with his elderly grandparents so all someone staking out the place would see is a easy hit with two old geezers but little did they know if they did go in there they would be greeted by an m4 in their face ;)

Good one! This > "19. Avoid announcing your vacation on your Facebook page. It's easier than you think to look up your address. Parents: caution your kids about this. You see this every day." has always been one I follow.
I have rellies that post up everywhere they are so the world always knows when they are not home. I always tell my family to post about what they have done after and not before.

Here's another tip that can save you alot of time and stress if you lose, or have stolen, your wallet/purse:

Take every scrap of ID and credit/debit cards out of your wallet or purse and xerox the front and back of every piece. Staple the sheets into a packet and tuck the packet into your safe, deposit box, or secure storage.

In the event your wallet/purse is lost/stolen, retrieve this packet to be able to quickly and efficiently contact all of your creditors/banking institutions to cancel or block your accounts. The service phone numbers are right on the back of each card which save you time and stress from having to look up the numbers or play follow the bouncing phone until you finally get a correct referrel number. You can also contact the SSA, DMV, etc. of your lost IDs so that computer notices can be generated to prevent your ID from being used in a fraud crime. Also report any access badges to prevent illegal entry into your workplace or school buildings.

Just remember to update your stored packet whenever an account is added/deleted or when a new expiration date is issued. Shred whatever is removed.

thanks Phil.. i will do this one.. now.........

Another thing you can do too.... i am not exactly sure how it works but you get a screw and put it up at the top of that bar thing where your sliding glass door is and you put it in a way so that if someone tries to pull the door up and off the track (avoiding the lock and its easy) to break in, it prevents the door from being able to be lifted up at all...

As for door flyers/news papers I let that crap sit for awhile before picking it up if someone ever used that to judge if or when I am home they will probably have a rude awekening if they find me or the hubby.... I am not nice....

thanks ALL.. and thanks for adding..

very helpful thread... thanks
