I would get it as the last catfish in my 75 and tankmates would be 6 giant danios (dither), a striped raph, a sailfin pleco (grow out), and some undecided SA or ca cichlids. Would this work as a grow out until I can get my 180 in fall 2015? Also, I'd get it from zimmermans, does anybody have experience with them? It also says they have them at 0.5", would that be to small to put in my 75 with my other fish which are all about 2-3 inches? I have a breeder net I could put it in until it got like an inch but I'm worried it wouldn't do well in it. From research on google, PC, and others it sounds like I could do this. What do you guys think? Last thing, if I'm ordering I'm thinking I'd like to get two (just to make sure at least one survives shipping) or would that be to much bioload I'm guessing?

Nobody? As of now I plan on ordering one tomorrow so if it's a bad idea please say so. Also if anybody has experience with them I'd really appreciate the help, thanks!

Well how wide is your tank? a 75 can be tall long or breeder sized tank it all depends if your tank is less than 20 inches wide I would not suggest it because they can get up to 18 inches long if you are planning to keep him long term. In all honesty the 180 would be your best bet .Otherwise if you have the 75 tank at least 20 inches wide like the breeder size or the long size you should be fine depending on current stock and filtration if your tank is already pretty heavily stocked I would advise against it until you get the 180 because some catfish tend to like to have territorial boundaries what I would do is wait for your 180 then transfer all your other fish into it and grow out the bullhead and beef him up in the 75 for a couple months and then transfer him to the 180 once he is big enough to be with the others what types of fish do you have? Are they preditorial?bif not he should be fine with the others right away

My tank is 48" x 18" x 20" (lwh). It would be a grow out until I get my 180 in fall 2015 and if I don't have the cash or space for an upgrade by then i have a plan B (300 gal Stocktub). My tank stock is in my sig but I will be adding one or two cichlids this weekend. For bottom feeder it would be the bullhead, raph, and pleco (raph and pleco share a spot even though there are plenty available). Filter is a fluval 406 and it's doing a good job now. Might add a sponge filter as well. Water changes are 50% weekly. And again, this is a grow out. So long as he isn't 14"+ by fall of next year I think I'll be fine. I'll wait for some more feedback though.

As long as you keeps replace the giant danios every time the bullhead kills.

You mean eat :). Yeah they're dither, basically got then to help cycle and as a distraction for the cichlids. Alright, think I'll go for it then! I'll take tonight and tomorrow afternoon to make sure I'm good on stock and revise anything hat could be wrong with it. As of now, expect to see pics of a juvi bullhead by Sunday!

So this is all good just to make sure:

dimensions: 48 x 18 x 12
Stock: 1 green severum.
1 blue acara
6 giant danios
1 striped raph
1 sailfin pleco (grow out)
1 brown bullhead (grow out)

cichlids are still being debated but it will be 1 large or 2 medium/small SAs or CAs.

temp: 75 F
ph: 7.6 (tests 7.4 with high range)
substrate: loose gravel
lights: 4 hours

if this is good I'm pursuing it.
