Thinking about a new puppy........

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Hi, you don't see many English Bull Terriers here. My husband's aunt always had an EBT and wouldn't have any other kind of dog. Her sister (my MIL) had lots of children and she used to take them to visit her , the dogs were no problem at all (she only had one dog at a time). Their only fault was that the one used to eat large stones! Don't know why she did that but she had to have an op to get them out. After her last dog died her new husband wouldn't let her have any more dogs as he didn't like them, otherwise she would have had another one. My Westie used to make a bee line for him, they always know when someone doesn't like them! :)

that is very true... they sense when you don't like them.. i chose a collie after all.. simply because i think this is an easier combination for getting along with my dobie.. but those bullies are awesome.. i know everything is how you train and quide them... that is what makes the dog

If you can handle a doberman you can handle a bulldog breed.

Honestly, herding dogs are equally as stubborn as any other non-hunting working dog. They need a firm hand to keep them in line as well.

I have to lean on my sheltie every so often to remind him who's in charge. He's a sweetheart of dog, but his protective instinct gets the better of him at times when he sees strangers near the house. He won't hurt them, but he goes up and greets them like an angry SoB if he takes the hit from the invisible fence.

Collies are nice dogs as well. One of my relatives owned one and a collie mix when I was younger. They were farm dogs, and had one litter of pups before the female was spade. Being farmers my relatives aren't the best with animals in many respects. No one could go near the pups aside from my Uncle, and my cousin who took over the farm.

Raise it right, and exercise the new pup and all will be well. Did you get a male or female collie? What color type?

Kiba, my sheltie is a blue merle bum.

i was just going to tell you..you could find pics in photo lounge... your blue merle is gorgeous... what a beautiful thick coat... i raised shelties once....i loved my little lassie..gave a pup to my dad and two to breeder.. great dogs.. i know i could have handle a bullie... but the more i kept thinking about having two dogs with similiar personalities i thought they might clash... the collie is laid back happy go lucky..
