If you feed one food source the rays have a tendency to get hooked on one food and become stubborn when not offered their preferred food. I just offer a varied diet and I haven't ever done vitamin baths with rays but I'm sure it wouldn't hurt as a supplement.

what kinds of food do you feed? if i just switched different kinds of fish would that be enough? I usually have shrimp in my freezer and i can get tilapia through work for around $2 a lb. then northern. what if i also fed say pan fish, perch stuff like that. would that be enough of a selection?

I have mine on shrimp, tilapia, and worms leftover from fishing. I've never fed fish that I've caught but if you haven't had any issues with it then I'd say go for it.
can you feed rays home made food like what you would make for discus?
DB junkie DB junkie told me about using an unflavored gelatin to make food but I haven't tried it yet.

Yes you can make home made food for rays. I used to make my own food for rays and aro all I used was a
1 bag of pellets,
bag of uncooked shrimp,
bag of tilapia,
2 table spoons of spiralina
2 table spoons of something else I can't remember exactly what it was
egg white
all blended together and seperated into sandwich bags keeping it about quarter incheck thick so it can be broken apart
