I have 3 cons and 2 jewels among many others in my 125g and Ive never had any fighting between them? Dont see why you guys are all up in arms about this mix?

Because I don't see that mix working in such a small space. 125 gallons is a lot different thant 29 gallons.

10 gallon ($10 @ walmart) and a sponge filter ($5-8 @ LFS) is the perfect fry tank, no need for a hang on back filter. Chances are your LFS will not take your fry until 2-3 months from now when they are at least 1.5-2". Its cool that you have fry now, next week when you have more fry your just going to say .... it. Its too much work to be shuffling around convicts like that and theres no pay off unless you want to stock your tanks with 100 more full grown convicts.

Because the OP's largest tank is a 29 gallon, and he is not able to get any tank that is larger than that until he moves out of his uncle's house. What works in a 125G is TOTALLY different than what will work in a 29G....please don't advise that because you have had success with a combo in a large tank, an inexperienced fishkeeper can then do that same combination in a tank that is 100 Gallons smaller than yours....

You have them in a 125 gallon tank. He would have them in a 29 gallon tank. Not enough room.

Tank size is irrelevant...he is only saying that cons can mix with jewels. You wouldn't want to do them together in a small tank, but that isn't what he was referring to. He was only replying to the guy that said they don't mix- and tank size wasn't mentioned in his post.

Tank size was never mentioned before because it was assumed that the jewel/con combo would be in CB's 29. That is why it wouldn't work.

Not going to argue with you..read what I posted again. He is only saying they can be mixed :D

To the original poster:

The more tanks you add to your collection, the more work you will be doing. And more money you will be spending. I know its hard not to add more tanks but think of it this way- you can buy a bunch of small tanks or save up and use that money to buy a large tank. You can do way more with a bigger tank and thus you will be happier in the long run.
