Thinking about ordering a ray from Sean L(snakeskin) thoughts?

I didn't get the rays I ordered from him...he is nothing but a lier.

Ask DB junky if shawn sends rays that he shows are in the pictures...

I didn't get the rays I ordered. But if the right rays weren't sent then is it on Shawn or is it on the guy in Thailand that didn't send the right rays?

If the reply rubs you wrong then you should definitely buy elsewhere.

I really don't agree that this is a "lynching" in any sense. It doesn't matter whose fault it was that the wrong rays were sent. Even if it was the exporter who made the mistake, for Shawn to claim that, "Everyones always gotten what I said they would and what they ordered. What ihave listedfor pics is it." That's simply not true.

If I'm an honest businessman and I've made a mistake in the past and a potential customer asks me about it, I say something like, "Yes, there were problems with some complex deals involving foreign exporters in the past, but please rest assured that I made everything right in the end and that I'll take all reasonable steps to make sure you're satisfied with this deal." (Assuming, of course, that I had done everything to make up for mistakes, which is what I would do if I were an honest businessman.)

What I wouldn't do is lie to my customer. That's what this guy does-- he lies. Again, when I had a problem with a ray, he claimed that this was the first time a ray he sent had arrived in bad shape and died shortly thereafter. That was a demonstrably false claim. People who lie are called liars, and I don't do business with them. No, they don't deserve to be lynched. They do, however, deserve to be called out as liars.

Sorry to go off on a rant, but I really can't understand why you are so tolerant of downright shady practices. I get the idea that acquiring rare fish is complicated and prone to misunderstandings and disappointment , the effect of which are magnified by the amount of money at stake. But I don't understand how that excuses lying.
 
i got my hystrix from him a while ago and saw the marbles in question. they were in with my hystrix and they were just as active and heathly as my hystrix. i was going to get one myself, but they got sold on aquabid. unless that buyer backed out. my hystrix was eating right out of the bag and i have not had one problem with it. all the rays he had there looked in great condition. i will buy from him in the future, but i can go the 20mins and see them when i pick them up. you can't blame a guy for something someone else does. if the guys from asia sent the wrong things it is not his fualt. i dont know all the details of that deal, but i know that is the biggest thing used against him in every thread ever created about him. i geuss thats why i never get things prepay from any sellers. i want them to have them in there possetion so they can see them and feed them before i come and get them/order them.

These statements cannot both be true. One of these people is lying, and I think you'll agree that the odds are that it's not DB. The guy blatantly and openly lied, Just like he lied to me twice. First he claimed that he'd never had a ray show up in bad shape and die, and then he lied and said that he hadn't been on MFK to answer my PMs. So now we have three documented lies. Not misstatements or mistakes or cases of ambiguous responsibility, but bald-faced lies.

Look, I could see doing business with this guy if there was no one else selling rays in the states or if marbles were exceptionally rare and I wanted to take a risk. But that's not the case. If anyone else lied to me like that, I wouldn't do business with them. I see no reason to think it should be any different when we're talking about fish.
 
I ordered a couple of rays from him (to be shipped), and had delayed responses...to the point where I was concerned (although I didn't share that part with the hubby, lol!). The rays ended up getting shipped to my amazement, and did arrive alive. They are still doing well, but both were thin when I received them. They are wc though, so at the time I figured that was the reason, but very shortly after I read a bunch of not so great experiences with him here on MFK, and realized how lucky I was to have them at all! So yes, I've got a couple great rays from him, but no, I won't order any more through him. Which is unfortunate, since I especially like the female I ended up with! ;)
