Thinking about quitting "monster"s

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
What is the pond liner protecting? I don't think they would eat thru it, but I know some odd fish and could see it happen too. What about using a horse trough for them like in the pic?

Use a livestock trough is excellent for house monster pacus. If you dont like how it looks, BBQ pacu ribs...regardless of the chemicals.

Haha i really don't want to eat them. I could never live with myself if I did something like that.
I may hate them, but I've grown somewhat attached to them. So I want to be able to keep them somehow, just not inside.

The liner is actually just a pool liner (check the thread in the sig), which is why I think theyd easily chew through wrinkles in the liner.

And I'd honestly rather not buy a big horse troff for them, thats something i considered awhile back and decided i didnt want to do

You're really overstocked...

really?....... lets not beat the guy up when he's already thinking about throwing in the towel ok.....

I had 6 pacu back in the day when I thought a 180 was HUGE......they outgrew me within a year. I was lucky enough to find someone who had a farm pond (no liner) and they probably still live there .

I just had the aquatics dept manager at my local Petsmart try to get me to take a 12" red belly last week, because in her mind, my 300 was more than big enough. When I kindly refused she was very upset because it was truly a beautiful fish....that I cannot house properly.

Don't give up altogether, but it is going to be hard to find a home for them. They will most likely chew through the liner so I'd try something else.

I gave up on housing "monsters" in favor of housing smaller fish like jags, Midas and Vieja lol all 12" fish. Keep looking around and eventually you will find an appropriate "home" for them. A farm with a good sized pond would be a good place to start...........

well if you tried to sell them, donate them, won't buy them a big trough....you should have a big party, say good-bye to them, sharpen up the fillet knife...so your friends can take care of the final solution

lmfao @ egon.

Hope you find them a good home. Maybe the local zoo?
