Thinking about quitting "monster"s

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
We have a large natural pond behind our house. About 80'x40'15'. stocked with blue cats, lmb, and perch. I dont know how theyd handle the winter though

If you can referee through this one till spring, I betcha they'd acclimate and be fine.......

No guarantee's....but it's a plan at least

You will need a heater. You might have to over heat your pond with a BIG heater. Try to keep the water between 70-82 degrees

You should also over filter the pond. Rain will take care of the water changes if you do it.

Get a surface breaker like people use in pools. At the very least, it will keep the pond from getting oxygen-choked.

I dont think this is true. The last thing you want is rain overflowing the pond. And it's such a miniscule amount, it doesnt replace water changes...

Guys when I say natural pond, I mean no filtration or anything. Its surrounded by trees and plants, and it packed full of aquatic plants. We live on about 8 acres of land out in the county, the pond is just naturally there and we go fishing out of it. It's 80 feet long, 40 feet wide, and 15-20 feet deep.

So there would be no heating, no filtration, no water changes, no nothing.

Just making that one clear

Thats why after years of monsters, snakeheads and what not. I setup a 50 with Angelfish roseline sharks and diamond tetras. This is the most peaceful tank I ever had and the most enjoyment I got out of fishkeeping. Bigger is not always better.

Bigger is not always better, well it could be, if your set up is big enough to house an ARAPAIMA.this giant embodies serenity, calmness, and looks to kill for ,so make the right choice and you will be well rewarded .
