Thinking bout doing a DIY wet/dry for my 75

yah thats a great diy wet dry. im tryin myself but i just have to worry about plumbing if u coudl help me on that itll be great. but basically mine just constructed... 20 gal rubbermaid tub. with a big ass filter sock and throwing a grip of bioballs in there.
i gohta lead the overflow to the sock and then pump will do the rest... help on plumbing :) plz?

Plumbing it isnt really hard, my hob overflow came with a hose to go to the wet/dry. You should have a drip tray or spray bar over the filter sock full of bioballs (Plastic pot scrubbers are better, or atleast thats the general concensus here). an as for plumbing the pump, thats pretty simple to, just like plumbing a canister you can use normal hose or PVC. I used PVC on mine as I had it readily availible.

Why didn't you make the biological room bigger? Now you got all this space that you don't use. Looks good though.

I dont know but I am going to make it bigger as one of the other dividers popped loose, So im adding bout 4"s onto the bio chamber. an a few other lil things inside it, plus a good tight Plexiglass top, to reduce evaporation caused by the heater.

keep keepin us updated. i might use ur idea in tha future for reference. lol.

in a few days im going to put one of the fluval 403s i have on it, so I can take the wet/dry out. then its just a matter of me getting payed so I can buy some 1/4" plexiglass to do a nice lid for it, an for a lil bit of bracing on certain areas that ill be fixing.

eyyy, i have a question. i see how u made ur wet/dry and all, but wheres ur overflow? do wet/dry do not need overflows? how does the water go into the sump? does it juss fall into a tube?

I got a HOB overflow on Ebay like this

the water simply flows down threw a ribbed hose threw a bulkhead an onto a drip plate.

can you plz show me what your drip plate looks like

all it is now is a piece of plexiglass with holes drilled in it, Im planning to redo that as well an put 1" sides on it. So that the water is forced to only go threw the holes an not over the edges. Just picture a square tray with holes in the bottom.

its pleny big
