Thinking of getting a monster fish for my 125G . . suggestions?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Possibly. I had a couple that came from Petsmart and had pretty good growth rate. Not super fast but moderate. Bought at about 1 1/2" and after a year was about 4". Either way they are great fish.?
Agreed, they are awesome fish. Mine is definitely growing, just slowly, it’s big enough now that it’s eating bigger foods, so maybe that will help the growth.

Yeah, I've been down the Cichlid route, though I had Mbuna, which are the smaller Cichlids. An all male peacock tank would be cool. I've also seen some cool Texas Cichlids.

My inlaws would tirelessly mock if I got a bass. "Can I fish him" "When are we gonna catch him and cook him up", that sort of thing. They're big fishermen type and go fishing in Canada every year and catch walleye.

What's a Brim? I'll have to research it.

Keep the suggestions coming! I've got time to do research and get this tank moved and ready for a stocking!

A lot of fisherman here in Australia like keeping fish that they fish for and learn about their particular behaviors. Natives are pretty popular in Aus.

OK, so I'm moved into my new house and everything is in the finished basement. I'm thinking of selling the 125G tank as I don't now realistically how it's going to work down there, so I've got the tank for sale on Craigslist for a few days now and no bites. I might list it here in case anyone in Northern/Western IL is looking for a tank. I'll snap some pics tonight and get it posted.

I figure I'll give the tank/filter a few weeks to get sold, if it does, then that's good and I'll revisit a bigger tank someday. And if it doesn't sell, then I'll get going on setting it up and figuring out a stocking for the tank.
