If the Motaguense in picture one is different than the one in picture two...they are two females.

In a 75 there isn't much else you could keep with a male RTM (barring a pleco of some sort).

how do people keep plecos with these fish? my red devil has killed every pleco I've owned. gave up on owning them.

are there plecos that can defend themselves/respect boundaries?

I have the same problem with most of my CAs. I have even built several caves for the m to hide in but they still get killed. I lile red motags and would luv to have some.

my rtm were sexable at about the 2 inch mark, maybe 2 1/2. great fish, but extremely aggressive.

I'm a bit torn on the sex. If you look at the pic of the second it is getting the mosaic pattern on the gill plate... Males get this. It also seems to be on the fins. Another pic with a side profile will give us a 100% accurate shot at sexing it. It's subtle but I was able to notice it.
