Thinking of getting Chameleons -Info please-

yeah a full grown veiled has a death grip from hell.Mine was nice and tame once you got him out but when he got bigger it was hell holding him because of his super sharp death grip, lol.I was just thinking of the tree cuz it was funny how if mine was on my shoulder and I walked near a tree he would reach for it on his hind legs. Can you imagine how fast they would get up a large tree, sheeesh. And yes they love the sunlight, but for noobs always watch them close and make certain their is shade too, they can overheat and croak fast. They will turn dark while cold and wanting the suns wrmth but once they are hot they will color out and lighten up to reflect the suns heat more.Very interesting animals, just take more care than most herps.Stress easier, fall to a bad diet faster, ventalation is more important, they can escape high out of reach if let out, drink from moving water, need larger caging than say a beard or leo, just stuff to think about. They are great, just do lots of homework.I had mine long ago but failed somehow, either too much handeling, not the right ratio of vits or varied enough diet, this was befor I had the net.So just givin you a heads up.

Not males,I think females are good together, but even a male with some females might be high stress on the females as far as breeding behavior, you need to search that more.

just females together no male and females, yeah i understood he will try to go to the other ones around the yard very quick and extremely flexible, great herp

As for keeping chams together I advice against it. Most chams get stressed out just from seing another animal. But it really depends on the species. Are you able to get Bradyphodiums that is south african dwarf chams? The smallest species are super colorfull, cold hardy(allmost no heat needed and great for allmost all year outdoor keeping) and you can keep a male with many females:D

I was looking at those just now. Ill probably look for breeding pairs Just to maybe start a little cham business. It would be nice to have more then 2 For different areas.

Also is it true they give live birth?

So what are the signs of stress?

when they are frightened they will sway side to side to keep you from seeing them so they think. Most will gape the mouth and jolt their bodies to get you away from them. They can get restless trying to get out to a more hidden spot, they are not made for speed and they know it so thats why they reley so much on their camo and hiding so I think its very unatural for them to be forced into plain site.Lots of branching and leaves really helps this for them in a cage, tall caging is very helpfull too so they can get up away from you if they want. They will stop eating too if they become really unhappy. These are some things I remember, but keep in mind Ive seen some that dont seem bothered by much either. The way I see it,I would hold mine in my hand up high a bit,you think hes just chillin but what else is he supposed to do,then you walk near a tree and he goes bezerk to get into it and off of you.Hopefully this helps, its just what Ive noticed with them.Again, some are not bothered by much but unlike a beard or iggy who can easily think it can kick your but and sometimes will try, these guys are like get me outa here!lol.

heat stress and you will get mouth gaping, light body color to reflect the heat source and very lethargic.Calcium def are big with these guys too. They shoot their tongue out to snach up food and vit deficiency's can cause them to loose aim and strength wich makes feeding a pain in the but for them and you.IT is very possible to keep them good because look how many are out their, just try to talk to breeders and ppl who have kept them with good health for a long time.Ask everything you can.Good luck.
