They would rather bust you for a joint then do real detective work.

Thing is they didn't need detective work because the guy admited he had no license yet they did nothing.

They have never enforced laws and than when things get out of hand they go crazy while preventative measures would go a long way .

I don't own pythons but have mt kings and have no problem at all with a license fee for them but do think if laws on books are enforced none of this is needed.

Well inform us man! Point us to the links or resources that prove your point!

It really sounds like your the one being narrow minded. Do a search on some of the Florida's hunting and fishing forums, bro. These are the guys that see what these invasive species are doing on a daily basis. Hell, the state of Florida has hunting programs that pay qualified trapping contractors to hunt and kill these things all day long.

Not to go off topic but the illegal fishing ,unlicensed fishermen ,taking even tiny bass as bait fish, etc is unreal in Miami.

You ever fish by tamiami going by or past coopers Boat ride you have guys cast netting small bass only to use them as bait ofcourse like 70% there they also have no license.

You are so right. If the laws were followed it would help. But not all people are honest and trust worthy. The mighty dollar can be pretty persuasive to some.

And I wasn't just meaning that case. If they would only start doing the basics like checking the sellers licenses and the LPS ability to carry through on making sure things are on the up and up. Kind of like how they have cracked down on the pawn shops here in Fla. We are the Pawn Shop capital of America you know. Or the way they check out donut shops. :D

It'll never happen.......And all those politicians involved can kiss ever getting re-elected goodbye.......

It would be like Michigan trying to ban Car manufacturing........It just won't happen......

You know snakes are banned completely in coral gables (have been for yrs according to their town charter) and pet lizards are being talked about in town meeting to also ban them.

I don't live there but read about it.

U seem to be over looking something very important! Allow me to give an example....

I want to own a serval here in PA(were our laws on most animals are highly lax, unlike florida) but i need a permit. I have lookd into getting one. THe politictions claim its an easy task to get a permit. BS! it is a highly difficult process that would take me over 2 years. probly more than 3!

Now imagine the process to get a permit will be in Florida? Can u honostly tell me that it will be a good thing? Ur assinign statement of just buy the license, quite obviously is uniformed, and retarded. You have never attemted to get a permit have u? Try to, then tell me it would be a good thing

That's the point. If you want one bad enough, you will follow through with due process. If not, too bad. Though 2 years is a relatively long time. Just sayin'

but the issue is, i do want one bad but they purposly make it next to impossible to get the permit. If its that way here, how do u think it will be there is florida, when they actually have had major issues with the banned animals? They will make it even harder!!

I'm not proving a point, the side proposing a ban is. I'm asking for the information that backs up how much of a threat pythons are in the glades.

koidaddy;3945102; said:
So are you saying there are no pythons in the Everglades? How am I being narrow minded on this issue? Or how is the issue at hand narrow minded? If that's what you ment.

Its easy to rip someones ideas apart, but what should be done to cure the problem.

And yes the cold weather did kill off some of them but not all. And if that is your solution to the problem, who is being narrow minded.

The issue is narrow minded. I was in the glades daily a few weeks ago...i saw a feral cat but no pythons, is there a feral cat hunt? An animal that can survive cold temps, UNLIKE reptiles. Even a common house cat that is let outside on a daily basis will kill birds, small mammals, and reptiles everyday. A snake will never amount to that sort of damage. OH BUT ITS A SNAKE and all of a sudden its scary and the politicians and media are putting fear into the uneducated public.
