but the good news is that the wild max size may not be the largest attainable.............its only a measure of what has be caught so far and recorded

thats true and do bichirs stop growing at some point in their life? or does growth just become ridiculously slow? who knows...i sure don't Given the number of endli endli caught and bred and kept but we still haven't seen something significantly larger, i wouldn't expect it to be common place. If there are signficantly larger specimens out there, it'll most likely be a rare exception (kinda like the tallest human).

but i think yours has a good chance of hitting 30". good luck man
