This is frustrating guys!!

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
DeL is absolutly right!! I don't think people consider the time and dedication it takes to keep these fish and actually have them prosper. Like DeL I have seen alot if aro's that are 12"+ stuffed in 55's latley on this site. Then the poster says I am planning on getting a bigger tank soon>> WTF before or after you stunt the damn thing? I have +$2000.00 in my 220 and I planned it from day one. Actually had most of it bought when I bought my first 4" aro. most people can't come up with that kind of cash over night. I know some of the fish freaks here think aro's need a 3' tank but I don't I feel my aro will be very comfortable for A LONG time. Like all the aro owners I plan to upgrade, but will it actually happen? I have no idea. Moral of this story? DON"T BUY IT UNTIL YOU CAN HOUSE IT!!

got yo back del:D

Different approach to keeping fish. No guarantees that yours wil be healthier than a 6 inch
silver aro raised in a 55 gallon and vice-versa ,right?

nobody is saying you can't house your aro in a grow out tank until it's big enough to survive with large tankmates.. Just don't buy it until you have it's final home.. It's like buying a colt(horse) and keeping it in you 12'x12' back yard, planning on buying a pasture to keep it in>

another thing most people taht buy a 180+ gallon tank take fishkeeping very seriously, When you drop that kind of cash you kind of have to!!

he nailed it ;)

I don't know del, your being a little hypocritical. Your tank isn't big enough for your aro :(. And your having trouble with the upgrade right?

what's hypocritical is to think that any tank is large enough if you want to get technical. it seems like every time someone ask what tank you should have for an aro the size goes up. I asked this question when I bought my first aro on numerous forums and i got 180 for the answer. A silver or black aro will live happily and comfortably in a 24" tank for life. Ideally a 3' tank would be the choice but it is not true that it's the minimum. I am sure that in some cases an aro reaches lengths over 36" does that mean that we need a 36"+ tank? Simple fact a 125 or 55 is to small.. there is no doubt about it.

Actually I do guarantee that my aro has more oppotunity to be healthy in my tank compared to a 55!!!! Simply because in a 55 the fish WILL stunt and we all know that that will eventually kill the fish.. you can do the best waterchanges in the world and the fish will still stunt. I have seen proof that they will not stunt in a 24" aquarium because I have seen them 30" plus in these size tanks. ever seen a 30" aro in a 55? No because it died before reachig that size.

I really don't have much to say on this as i want one as well :) But i believe this nailed the true deal :) :) maybe not soon and maybe by the time i have one it will not be a 150 anymore but a 300 like the two that just slipped through my fingers the last 3 weeks both for 500.00 fully loaded!!

Any way no opinion either way cause i have wanted one for around 15 years now and still even having a tank i know will be upgraded still haven't purchased a silver :( I will not garauntee I won't get one and put it in the 150 but I hope you will not maim me if i do :)
