This is frustrating guys!!

Actually I do guarantee that my aro has more oppotunity to be healthy in my tank compared to a 55!!!! Simply because in a 55 the fish WILL stunt and we all know that that will eventually kill the fish.. you can do the best waterchanges in the world and the fish will still stunt. I have seen proof that they will not stunt in a 24" aquarium because I have seen them 30" plus in these size tanks. ever seen a 30" aro in a 55? No because it died before reachig that size.

Dodgefreak, we are talking about keeping a 6 inch aro TEMPORARILY in a 55 gallon. Why are you mentioning a 30 inch aro in a 55? I dont quite get it.

Also, how do all the best asian aros are grown out? Not in 200 gallon tanks and by themselves i can tell you that much.

My biggest problem is seeing crampped up fish, It makes me want to do something ...anything, I am a sucker like that.

I know I can't save the world, but if I can do something for even just one Arowana to make it more comfortable, so be it...:clap

The biggest idiots in this whole sorry mess are the LFS that sell you the fish and the poor advice that goes with it. I have grown on hundreds of fish it was my way of enjoying the hobby and owning lots of interesting fish. I had African Tigers 5 Years ago I had loads of snake heads from small to huge I bought a red snakehead from a shop a few years back for £5 at about a 8” I had never been in this shop before just walked in off the street as I was working round the corner and walked in and bought it. The man put it in a bag and took the money. I asked how he came by it he told me he had sold it when it was small now it was to big for the tank and he needed to get rid of it as it can be a bit aggressive. I have had loads of rescue fish when my fish room was up and running a few years back I had Piranhas coming out of my ears where people had bought them and realised they were not the talking point they wanted. It all starts there, better advice is require. I go into LFS see a tank with 4-5 RTC 4-5 TSN who picks up these fish (besides me) where do they end up? As with guns it’s the nut behind the stock that is the problem as with large fish it all starts with :swear: advice.:duh:

EXACTLLY, very well put rtf

wanna bet?

I have had 3 silver Arrows I grew them all out in a 180 I have to admit they do look a bit cramped at the end when turning thats why i sold them and started again. All went to bigger tanks and I knew the people that had them. I wish I had my pond at the time.

There is something truly satisfying about growing a fish on I have said it loads of times any one with money can bye a large fish it takes time and skill to grow a nice fish on. My TSN was 4” when I got him if that he is 17” now he makes me smile every night I go in there and feed him by hand.
