Parents who have had a kid that just committed suicide are going to want an explanation (or someone to blame) (like how parents blame autism on vaccines, I feel they just can't handle the fact that something is wrong with their child and want to know why), also in the case of lawsuits, many cases that should not be won are because people feel bad for them and figure the school can afford to give these parents some money for their loss, even if it wasn't the schools fault entirely or at all.
