This is Horrible

Ok, well i see were he is coming from. I mean whether you live in a place called rattlesnake ridge most people have to deal with HOT snakes. Now, if you just do common upkeep and mow your grass and remove debry were needed so snakes have no were to lurk you are usually good. The only snakes you really have to worry about after that are field dwelling snakes like down here we have the black racers which are harmless. Now the thing that gets me is all it is is a small fence, now why dosent he just use some acrylic screening instead and the snakes would just be repelled out instead of trapped. Becausse i can understand wanting this around a garden to keep snakes out and things like that. I think it is something that could be usefull. just handled wrong with a wring attitude.

does it hurt the snake when there trapped? other then the killing part i would think in heavly populated areas with snakes would be a great way to relocate! but then again where building INTO there homes

That is kind of the problem. You cannot have an over population of snakes in the wild. They are predators and are there for the food, most likely rodents not just a cool place to hangout. It was thought that there was an over population of snakes in southwest Kansas and southeast Colorado so large numbers were hunted, removed, relocated and now plague has rebounded in the rodent populations in those areas AND humans have already died due to the exposures.

Between the plague, other rodent born diseases, and toxic chemicals used to control rodent numbers, I would think a few snakes would be alot healthier and safer to have around the house.

I completely agree and i think his method is wrong but i can see were there are certain areas in your yard that are attractive to snakes that you dig in regulary, i.e. a garden. BUT i am not gonna say that if i walk out onto my porch in the morning with all the kids running around and a rattlesnake is on the porch i am not gonna behead it with a shovel instead of letting it go willy nilly around my porch with my nieces and nephews running around like manyyacks. Now if i find it running around my yard passing through ya i will probably just let it go. Now i might change my story if i had proper training to deal with these snakes as i dont have yet but i plan but i am not gonna say if there is that 1 HOT snake near my high traffic areas it might meet its maker but as a whole i leave almost all snakes alone. I will never kill a non-venemous snake. Now i still dont like the way this thing handles it, pretty much is a death trap for any snake coming by in a cruel way by starvation or causing serious self harm, venomous or not venomous. Personally i wouldnt use this either way, i would just work around all the snakes as they dont bother me. Matter of fact i encourage the nonvenomous ones to come around my house and other critters. You know how many less mosquitoes there are around with a few bat houses.

The guy in the video is an idiot. The chance of a small child getting a snake in the wild is pretty damn small. Now lets take that same snake and stick it on a fence, where the child can see the movement. Now you have a curious child who otherwise would never have encountered a snake approaching a trapped agitated animal. Not everyone sees this as a very bad and unnecessary scenario?

No kill, much safer for kids.

This is more like what i was talking about. Perfect, wont harm the snake and keeps them out. :headbang2: Still wouldnt use it as i like the snakes in my yard but this is more appropriate.

Also a lot safer for the kids. I'd never use it to cover the whole yard but child play areas and pet enclosures for sure.

this is sickening, where do people think they belong in this world when they can just build a house somewhere and expect wild life to just be gone
and someone had a great point of kids being able to find and catch snakes
this is just crazy
