I have no problems with the ones being laser tatooed. The scientists tatoo wild fish for tracking movement using same method. You can't discriminate the method based on intend.
Getting the information out won't do any good. People select themselves out of the information loop; the very same people likely to buy such a fish. At the individual level, it's self-correcting since they tend to have poor luck with the fish and drop out of the hobby. However, there's one born every minute to replace them. Just wait, if genetic engineering allowed us to have house-bears, or tiger-squirrels, there'd be a market for them as well. It's in the nature of an uninformed person.
