I was bored this afternoon, and I've had an idea for a few weeks so I decided to build a prototype. I used some left over pvc and a gravel cleaner that came with one of my filters. The hose fitting and valve I picked up at Home Depot. I figure it cost me less than 8 dollars for everything.
I think this will make cleaning my gravel much easier for my larger tanks. I can look through the front with my arm over the tank as I clean, instead of having my arm in the tank looking down from the top as I clean. I haven't used it yet because the silicone I used to attach the gravel cleaner needs to cure for a couple days.

What do you guys think?

i forsee suction problems, but if it works great idea!

With proper pump it will be fine.

truely a boomstick :headbang2: Rock on!

I have one of those no spill faucet pumps, I figure I can submerge it side ways, to help start the flow through the hose.

An excellent and original idea. What a way to clean deep tanks! I hope it works well for you. Good luck on it's maiden voyage. If it does work good for you, can I get you to send me a copy of your design?
I hear that Plagiarism is the highest form of flattery here on MFK.

On your no spill faucet pump, is it similar to the one Python makes for their 35' hose set up?
