how bout carrying an empty glass bottle in your purse? if it gets bad, bust the bottle like they do in the movies, and BAMMM! instant bad guy repellent. if they ask why you had a bottle in your purse, just say your were taking it home since you like to collect wine/beer/etc bottles

Why must she carry a firearm? she could use anything such as mace or a heavy walking stick.... Why would she want to kill a man when all he did was follow her.. I understand hitting or spraying with mace but not shooting.

nobody said to shoot the guy for following her. but if he's stalking her, it's usually for a reason. rape, kidnap, murder, etc. not everybody in this world wants to be your friend. open your eyes

yeah it keeps on happening to me so frequently now im just wondering when is the day gonna come when some guy is just gonna stalk me, refuse to leave me alone, rape me then just kill me.

and the guy who was following me today would NOT stop!!! i was trying to make a big scene out of it hoping someone would intervene but no one did i yelled out "STOP STALKING ME, I DONT WANT YOUR NUMBER, LEAVE ME ALONE" but he actually didnt....

and btw im doing absolutely nothing to attract stalkers or boys in general, when i go out i always walk in a really fast pace and i dont flirt, i dont pretend to like any attention. i just do whatever i have to do then leave.

This is why you attract attention. This kind of flighty, weak aura sends the message that you are vulnerable. Men will either smell the opportunity to prey on you, or will feel compelled to protect you. Neither case is what you want. You need to walk at a healthy but relaxed pace, move like you're made of iron, and look every person you see square in the eyes without emotion. Remember that it's YOUR sidewalk and you're letting them share it with you, if they behave. Own it.

EDIT: And don't be afraid to pull a Jack Sparrow to end a conversation. A crazy face is a great weapon.



But I do understand now that he was a creep who wasn't letting up, and that is scary. My wife won't leave the house for the same reason. Our alley is a primary pathway for the convicts released from the prison and they often camp out in it.

You probably wouldn't have to shoot someone to get them to stop stalking you. Anyone with a brain would figure out that they should probably leave as soon as they see the gun. And a girl with a walking stick could be easily overpowered by a larger man. Plus, what woman would want to have to carry a walking stick everywhere they go?

My wife always takes a walking stick. She's had some swordplay training, so it's actually somewhat likely to be of use if she needed it. But the untrained pedestrian with a walking stick would probably try to use it like a baseball bat and get tackled before taking a swing.

when im out i do look confident, i don't look like i'm scared. but im just a fast walker because i know where i'm headed too so i don't see any reason why i should walk slowly. i've stopped trying to figure out why people are following me, it really gets me mad that some guy just thinks he can invade my space and follow me for ages just because he wants to.

some people on here have said dont wear makeup, dont dress up, wear sweats.. but i don't see why i should have to stop being me just so that people will leave me alone. plus i don't have any way of protecting myself if i'm out alone which will inevitably happen a few times a week. it gets stressful if im going out alone now, and a guy approaches me, i immediately get defensive because i got attacked by a stalker in march.
