My neighbors growing up used to shovel (cut in half with a shovel) snakes on sight, I always try to step in and capture them, making them think I'm keeping the animal contained only to release it in a nearby preserve. People are so ignorant and hateful. I mean I hate spiders, and even smash them on occasion but this was so much more brutal in ignorant than that.
 
this reminds me of time i caught a toad at recess when i was little. just as i was letting it go this kid ran up and started stomping on it and laughing. i beat the living crap out of him but i didn't feel any better after though. some people are just such wastes of life that they feel the need to waste other lives in order to feel significant
 
While I do think this is cruel and unnecessary, it is astounding to me how hypocritical some of you are. Look, if you're honestly going to tell me that you never stepped on an ant as a kid or something along those lines, then you're either lieing or you did not have a typical childhood. And don't make up something like "the ant could've been carrying disease" or something like that. The kids killed a snake. They're not serial killers. And I'm sorry, but snakes are not equal to people. Animals can't reason on the same level as humans, have far less mental capabilities, and for the most part are not capable of the kind of love experienced by humans. I'm not saying that this was excusable, but if you think that someone deserves to be killed for something like this then you're no less sadistic than they are. Go ahead and report it to the authorities, good for you. But please be rational about it.

I'm with you on this one. serial killers, rapists, and child molesters are the kind of people that deserve the needle. someone who kills an animal, regardless of what kind it is, does not. end of story
