IS IT LIKELY THAT TROUBLE WILL VISIT MY DOOR IF I POSTED PICTURES OF THIS AROWANA ON THIS FORUM IN THE UNLIKELY EVENT I SHOULD SECURE IT?

If "trouble" does not... You know I will, with badge in hand...:D

I have take back what I said earlier. I was just excited to see the fish without thinking about the logical consequences of showing this arowana publically. Laying low with this arowana sounds like a much better plan of action.
It's too bad it sounds like this rare arowana is being kept in an over crowded tank?.

I have zero exerpience keeping arowanas so I can only imagine the practical aspects of catching arowanas, and thus am of no help. Hope you come up with a plan.
Hey, maybe that's why this arowana has not been moved out of the display window, because of the difficulty in catching them?.

Catching them can be entertaining. Wear safty glasses. You might get a fish in the eye! :D This doesn't make for a very cool fish story.

I'm sure he knows what it is and knows they are banned here. He likely had connections to get it here and won't sell it. Is there a fine if he is caught with the fish or is it just confiscated?

I believe there is a fine, and the fish is destroyed

Leave the people alone, they have taken this risk of having such a fish in their store, to ensure wealth, luck, happiness and success for the owners and their families. You should feel lucky enough you got to see one, and better yet you can go see it anytime. It's not right of you to risk their beliefs, business, and livelihood over your wants. They know what they have, so don't insult them with a measly offer. You obviously know very little about these fish and the deep beliefs that go with them. You should strongly re-consider your actions.

My $0.02

Boydo, your a nut case. I probably know more about the fish than you. As for their beliefs, I don't really care. Mostly because I doubt they have any real beliefs in it. Maybe I'll throw in a lucky rabbits foot. That is just as silly as any belief that a fish will cause prosperity in their buisness. When I was there, the resteraunt was empty. Maybe the fish is broken.

It's not like they can't say no if they don't want to sell.
Also if they care so deeply about this arowana, isn't ten arowanas too crowded for a 300 gal tank?.
