Yeah, she drove him mad and he killed his children, and in some versions of the story, his wife. That act is actually what caused him to do the twelve labours, in order to cleanse himself of the sin.

And to tell you the truth, I still haven't seen all of Clash of the Titans, just bits and pieces. I have watched the old one all the way through though.

i love greek mythology, which is why i'll watch The Immortals also. but you're not missing much with Clash of the Titans. The original was way better. They changed a few things which i didn't like. I think the Medusa in the original was way darker and scarier than the new one. You'd think they'd do a better job of that but it was a disappointment. I didn't like what they did with her. She had a pretty face until she wanted to turn someone to stone, then her face would turn into like a dog/man face or some kind of cougar face. I didn't like it. And the sand/desert creature people made no sense to me. they seemed irrelevant and random. the whole movie felt rushed to me, the pegasus was black, no two-headed dogs, no giant vulture, no robotic owl,.... I can go on and on

Yeah, that's what I heard about it, which is mostly why I haven't sat down and watched the whole thing yet. I may watch it one day just so I can say that I have, but I definitely don't have high expectations.

I agree with sumo's remarks about Clash...especially as far as Madusa. It seemed like the producers were intent on showing off these others characters they made up for the film.Madusa was a big let down though.

I didn't like the first one. Hoplites didn't fight in spandex. It was really ridiculous and over the top. Not to mention the overt east vs west overtones. I'll probably watch it cause I'm that big of a classics geek but I'm not gonna be expecting too much.

The myrmidons were real in mythology, I researched a little bit when I first saw Troy and found that out. They were supposedly created when Aeacus, the grandfather of Achilles, was praying to Zeus to repopulate his land after a plague wiped out most of the citizens. .

I like how they were portrayed as the elite of Agememnons forces....Like ancient SEALS.

well i learned a little in the mythology dept today. but it looks like a good movie anyways! ill definitely watch it.

Agreed, that's pretty much how they were described in the Iliad. I also liked how they inflicted fear in the Trojans, especially Hektor. Just made them seem that much cooler.
