lol! but if if were a small LFS with a single owner, i would prob feel bad and pay for it. then id take it home and try to fix it somehow. but if it were a huge corporate chain like petsmart, id say screw it, im not paying!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

usually the busness can send damaged mercandise back to the wholesaler. but idk about this situation. I deffinatly WOULD NOT pay retail price for a broken item. i would consider paying the wholesale price. also buisness have to EXPECT loss like this. it is why the markup on items can sometimes be around 200%. like heat bulbs, they def do not need to be 8-15$ each, but after 2-3 out of 10 break thats just what they have to charge for them.

when i had my store i once cracked a filter i was trying to fix for a customer...... i ordered him a new one free of charge....... i didnt even carry that item....... it goes both ways........ the sense of fair play is so distored in people nowadays......

Customers fault and should be held liable. The sign said "DONT TOUCH!" If you touched it after that and it broke, its on you.

Yeah that's why I don't touch anything at the store.. I'm too poor to be breaking stuff I don't need and then having to buy it..

It on you bud, I you can live without paying for what you broke, then just let it be. Hopefully the LFS will never have anything you want or need from them, cause I doubt your business will be welcome there.

As far as the LFS pursuing legal actions to recover the loss. I would doubt that would happen it'll cost them more in time and money then what it's worth.

If it were me I would work with the store, you really do not need to pay full retail to cover their costs. They may even pay part also, it could be part their fault for the way the canopy was set up. Possibly even a safty hazard, but I do not know the exact sitsuation.

It could go either way. It's not exactly a knick knack shop so you probably didn't expect it to fail/break, etc. But if I had even a little bit of money I would try to work it out with the LFS to give something towards it.
