thoughts on aliens?

Interesting thread. Lot of great points.

To those who say that they are convinced that there are other life forms in the universe, what do you base that on?

There are still places on this planet left untouched and undiscovered, like the oceans, which probably harbor life we've yet to see and new species of fauna/flora are being discovered all the time because of it, so I don't think it's far fetched to believe life exists somewhere else in the galaxy. It's impossible to know if other life forms are out there without having the right capabilities (being able to travel/use space to our advantages) and in all honestly maybe it's better we haven't met them. Who knows if a better, smarter, race wouldn't just wipe us out because they can or because we're a future threat.

I think it's naive to think we're special and the only life forms to exist. Also to whoever said something like why humans wonder about aliens yet can't solve issues at home or something like that, it's because humans aren't satisfied with the knowledge we have and have to question everything, that is our nature. Just like with the dinosaurs, or pyramids or anything else, we feel the need to know why.

If the government were to have alien bodies hidden away, do you think they ever saw extraterrestrial apparitions?

Isn't imaginative in the slightest way, it's more probable that we aren't the only form of intelligent life in the universe.

We haven't even explored our deepest oceans lol, so to completely disregard the possibility of other forms of intelligent life is shocking to say the least.

After knowing the vasty of the universe the foolishness would be to think we are the one and only planet with life in the entire cosmos.

There must be more worlds with life out there, with life in different stages of evolution, some harboring intelligent life some harboring just animals as earth did when dinosaurs walked it.

The mathematical probability there is life in many other planets out there si quite interestingly big.

So if my religious belief and faith does not allow me to believe there's other forms of intelligent life out there, I'm naive? Good to know

One cannot help but admit that there is a significant amount of intolerance on both sides of this debate.

Let's not have this thread go down the toilet, please. He is as entitled to his opinion as you are of yours. He in no way said your religious beliefs make you naive, you're the one who drew that conclusion. There are evolutionists and scientists who don't subscribe to the idea that life is out there as well.

^^^^ There was a time when some peoples' religious beliefs didnt allow them to think earth was round and not the centre of the universe either....:wall:

Think about all of the life forms on Earth that have been just recently discovered in habitats that were previously thought to be inhabitable. Underneath Arctic ice, deep water thermal vents, sulfurous pools, etc. If we can be surprised by where life can survive here on Earth then why is it so hard to believe that we can be surprised by what can survive on other planets?

No religious conversations. This is about to turn into a **** storm that will get this thread closed.
