Hello i was pondering some thoughts for my future monster tank of 300+ gallons, i currently house a 75G with a 9-10 inch silver Arowana living with a grown ornate bichir, once i have a large tank i was thinking of maybe a RTC that my LFS has had for a long time, he's about 2 ft priced at $150, would the bichir be food for the RTC once he grows bigger ?

You would be way overpaying for a fish that even if isn't stunted would out grow a 300 in no time.
There are many other cats that would do better in that tank.

I would aim for a smaller species, or a hybrid. Your ornate isn't going to grow magically quick enough

Yeah i figured, i don't think the ornate would get that much bigger, he's really long and girthy as is, almost twice as long as the aro head to tail.

I only considered an RTC as i thought at that size its growth rate would be slow, which species would you prefer?

Their growth rate is probably one of the fastest I know of. Most cats have huge mouths so you would want one that stays relatively small. Or maybe like a giraffe cat or Niger.

Fast even at 16+ inches? O_o

I've never heard of giraffe / niger cats, i'll check em out!

What about marble cats? my LFS also has 1 of those about 2 ft, they look so plain though.
