The reason I got them was for cycling the tank and to be feeders for the crayfish same for the ghost shrimp
Have you tested to see if you're cycled yet? I had a crayfish for a few years, never escaped my tank. I had a decent lid but there was still gaps around the filter and heater etc. He was really cool and I'd like one again someday. But he'll definitely catch your fish eventually at night.
My ammonia and nitrite are 0 and my nitrates are 5 ppm or below I think
Would you say crayfish are hardy? I've always been told that those things are indestructible
Well I've only had one and its was probably ten years ago, but she was pretty tough. They don't tolerate many medications though, as long as your not keeping him with other display fish that shouldn't matter, but if you ever treat the tank for something read up on it very carefullly. I had one of the clarkii blue lobsters, which is just a fancy color morph, but i don't know if the fancy color variations are any more fragile due to breeding practices. May have o start another thread or do a little deeper research online, like i said it's been years since I had one.
