Dear Terri, Bindy and Baby Bob,
it is with my deepest heartfelt sympathy that I feel while I write this, the world lost a great man,a great soul,a great conservationist, a great son, a great husband, an incredible father,a great educator, and a great entertainer. I am writting this from Ontario Canada, we have no crocs here in the wild and never will but one thing is forsure we had the best croc of them all, the croc hunter.
Crocs around the world can now sleep a little easier but the rest of the world wont. I will never be able to accept that steve is gone, I cant imagine how you the family must feel if I cannot grasp the absence of steve.
I seen an episode on tonight in memory of Steve and its the croc diaries where foxy the fox had to be put down and Steve was explaining the one of the keepers that when one door closes another door opens, when he lost his mother in a car crash Bindy came into your lives. then when Foxy was put down a new kit came into the zoo's life. The door that closed behind Steve will never be opened again by anyone, someday baby Bob and Bindy may open it but for years to come that door is locked. Steve's shoes are impossible to fill, and his foot steps are too big to follow.
It was such a freak accident which is maybe why I cannot grasp what has happened. I used to own 2 pet stingrays and I know how docile they are which is why I am totally stunned. I cannot believe the odds that this happened and god must have something he needs Steve for. maybe there are some croc problems in heaven or maybe something else but all I know is that he is reunited with his mother and his #1 best mate Suie.
I've cried many tears watching tribute videos and also episodes on t.v. No one ever has touched me like he has through his loss. Steve's loss is a real eye opener and I hope other people realize what his goal in life was and since he isnt here anyone we can all do our part to contribute, I know I will.
Steve is the most energetic, spunky, outgoing, enthusiastic, sincere real and genuine person I have ever seen. Through the fame and everything he stayed the same all along. Never frowned always bubbly and happy just hearing his voice and how excited he would get about the smallest thing would bring a smile to my face. Even tho Steve became famous world wide he didnt seem to change one bit and never let the fame go to his head. Steve treated everyone he encountered the same and with utmost respect. He seemed like the kind of guy that would give you the shirt off his back no matter who you were. Seeing how Steve lived has made me want to live life more positivly and happily. he was such a true down to earth and likable person and the world is truly saddened.
You did so much for this world in so little time, but now has come time for you to rest. God seen how much work you did for his world that he needed your help in heaven, we know if it was up to you Steve you would'nt rest until your work here with animals and conservation was done but god decided it was time for you to rest which is why he took you away from us in such a quick shocking way. You will still touch the lives of us all
through the knownledge and shows you left behind, your efforts will not go to waste Steve.
May god rest your soul Steve and watch over Terri, Bindy, Baby Bob and the Australia Zoo.
sincerely,
Dan Reed
