That was...uncalled for, to say the least...

baitfish come from various places, possibly out of state. And Sticklebacks are somewhat "underground" aquaria species. You never see them, but they're there. People keep them So it could've ended up in a bait farm, just like ppl on here who end up with LMB and Barramundi in Feeder Comets.

Here is the problem with that... Any bait that would have a Three-spine as a contaminant would also come from an area that would fall under the current VHS regulations on collection, aquaculture and interstate transportation. Plus these are an exotic transplant to those areas. Any bait shipments would be combed over quite well and a contaminant such as this would never make it out the door... Sorry chances are very very very slim for a Three spined to show up in a batch of minnows in Iowa..

A Brook stickleback on the other hand would actually be a regular occurrence they live in IOWA and it is very likely that the bait dealers are getting their fish from IOWA waters. The hassle of import permits and health screening of import bait is not really something Joe schome bait dealer is going to bother with when they can get cheap and easy a couple counties north from a licensed bait collector....Well within Brook stickleback range.

Who the hell is going to import bait from New England or the Pacific west coast which would be the only other areas you would have these three spines?

Please....
