im thinkin of throwen in the towel my fish dont get along my oscar is terrible to tankmates my severum was to and this is all getting expensive and hard does anyone have any advice

Well first off, what size tank? Who's all inhabiting it? How long have you been keeping fish? And lastly, what do you truly want from your tank (aka why do you want fish to begin with?)

i have a 75 with a 5 inch albino oscar and 3 inch red severum and a 3 inch flagtail and 4 silver dollars around 2 to 3 inches and i have had fish for many years but this tank has been difficult and i love watching the fish and having a nice showpiece in my living room but the tank is mostly my main hobby and an outlet

just with the stock the actual tank and setup pose no issues at allits well over filtered its just the stock that i was under the understanding should get along

Well oscars are normally quite peaceful but during feeding can get quite aggressive. Im not familiar with flag cichlids at all but i understand they are a more peaceful south american cichlid (correct me if im wrong) and severums are generally pretty mild mannered as well. You may try throwing a few more dither fish (aka your silver dollars) to try and distract any aggression towards the cichlids to the dithers. But u may wanna try donating ur current stock and restocking in accordance with what you truly want and love. If your really into ur oscar id remove the others and just let him grow, maybe get 2 more to have a few focal fish rather than just the one. Most the fish stores i go to have no guarentee on any of their cichlids for this reason in particular. Every fish is different and dont be surprised when one acts completely opposite of how everyone describes the species.

Why dont you get another tank and spilt the fish up or just sell them fish you have now and get something else .

The Oscar will need the 75 gal to himself territorial-wise and bioload-wise. He's feeling cramped already and obviously so is the Severum. If you want a single responsive wet pet keep the Oscar alone in there. If you want a community setting I'd get the Oscar & Sev out of there and keep the rest in and resist adding more and more. My opinion.

i doubt a 5inch oscar is feeling cramped in a 75
