somethings u just cant keep in captivity, iv'e never kept a ray but from what iv'e been hearing lately it sounds like a tough job.

Pretty sure there was talk of Reticulated disapointment when you asked about them in the 1st place. They're just like Scombs. No one knows why, it's just easier to accept it and move along.....

I'd stay away from Marbles after this ordeal, I've had several Marbles pull the same crap Retics do, and considering what you've allready been through IF you go shell out $300-400 on a Marble and it checks out you're gonna hate rays forever.

What you need is an established male Motoro. Hit up MNstingray, he had a hybrid Marble/Motoro that's been in captivity a while and is a proven breeder.

ya there was, but i didn't think it would be this bad...i have a scomb and it is doing great...idk...ya i would be hard core pissed off if i got a marble and it check out like these retics...i will most likly hit him up as i could pick it up aswell...i gave my last 2 retics to the lfs and i have $53 credit for them so i may get a motoro from them aswell...idk i have to talk to the wife...

ya, more so with the retics...i have brook trout witch are supost to be the same, but so far all good...

I've got a male from Vamptrev that's about 9 months old that I will be looking to rehome soon, I think. If you were closer I'd make a deal for you, but I've never shipped fish before, and I wouldn't want my first try to be with a stingray...

Scombs will do just fine till they die. They don't give you warning even the day before they check out. I had a pair like a year and a half. From under 2 inches to over 8. Both died the same week for no reason, tankmates were just fine. They are just a fish that needs to be looked at scientificly to try to pin down what the deal is cause this forum hasn't seen one grown to good size in the home aquarium ever....

Retic breeders..... How many have you heard of? Can probobly count all the CBs from since I've been here on 1 hand.

Rays are probobly the greatest kind of fish a person can keep. You'll be happy once you get a hold of a tougher species.... I don't know if I could ever keep fish tanks again without rays in them.....

Sorry for all the losses.But Retics {tea cups} are the worst ones to begin with.Thats why i never bring them in.The losses are just to great,even tho the price is cheap.
But afetr 10 of them ,you could have had a great pair of motoro's or Orbs ,thay are cheaper.

i know thats why i am so pissed off about it...it seemed cheaper to start then after i lost them and added it all up i was like F**k THAT i should have just done that ones i wanted to start with...live and learn i geuss

Heck, even at only 30 bucks a pop he could have had a nice marble or flower from you (MN) or at 50 a pop a pair.
Or now some of those nice Hybrids you have been bringing in.
Don't let it get you down sbuse. Keep the faith and get a more robust species.
