I think some good ideas were mentioned though.

How about we talk about ways IT COULD work. P PYRU was it you who mentioned having access granted/restricted ?

Could be a minimum post count and other criteria that would have to be met before someone could enter the dome.

You guys want grown up conversations, well for a starter that requires grown ups, not 17 yr old wise asses that don't know when to sit on their hands, and when not to. F him and the Shetland pony that he rode in on. He had been warned plenty.

Hello; ??????

A little slow on the uptake there Jeff? Maybe a little too late at the computer for you old boy? The "new rules" I spoke of were from pages back, from the quote below. Try and keep up, it will just get more confusing for you if you don't.

Viper said:

"I'd like a more Wild West type area, if you look at mfk, it was most popular before all the new rules sprung up, people could speak freely and ended up staying for the community AND fish related advice, the hiatus happened when more rules were implemented and many of the OG's went elsewhere , now we have rules made for snowflakes, which aren't going to win us any members."

I then asked - "what new rules?"

Hello;?

Let me get this straight, after 50, or 100, or whatever posts, a new member could enter this no holds barred folder? So no age limit? This is a family friendly site, yes? Children are allowed to join MFK, yes? Or is the admin here now supposed to vet each & every member (and their parents?) before being allowed into this folder?

It doesn't show up under new posts. You have to actively seek it. When you click on it a notice pops up then gives you a pw to type in. Its basically an acknowledgement that there might be some offensive subjects. It sounds bad considering the past few days, but usually the loudmouths are quieted pretty quick by people with facts.

Its the place you go if your looking for threads like what do you like in man/woman. It keeps it off the viewable regular forum. I've seen spills like the other day in there, but since its a place of somewhat free expression then you don't get people calling for mfk HR. Someone expresses they're opinion on a comment then you move on (it should be like that anyway), because you went looking for this.

I dont think you've read the entire thread. Where was "no holds barred " suggested?

Parent vetting seems a little extreme no ? Suggestions in post 95 seems like a great place to start.

Not no holds barred. That quote from viper isn't what we were spit balling.

Now the age deal is where the problem starts you can't have 15yrs olds like your best friend yesterday day joining an adult party which will happen. So you'd have to make something 18 up which is a whole issue.

Lily even with the crazy spill probably had good knowledge to share in regards to discus and altum angels. The area could of preserved her imo.

However id rather choose my words a little more carefully and help the next gen of mfk vs the later though. Push come to shove.

Yeah Frank, I have read the entire thread. A folder such as being proposed will start all nicey-nice with everyone paying attention to not break any TOS, and will later degrade into a free for all. It's the nature of the beast. I've been here a while now, and have also moderated on what was a very large forum in its day. The dynamics off all of this is not lost on me.

The entire notion of this kind of folder on a fish forum, seems extreme to me. My point is, how will one control viewable content in such a folder? This is a site that allows children to join.

We have grown men who can't seem to follow who said what to who in a rather simple discussion, but we expect children to do what, vet themselves? Sign a waiver? Have their parents sign off?

What you seem to want, and correct me if I am missing something, but you appear to want a sub folder of the Lounge, so that some of you can discuss topics that for the most part currently violate the TOS of this site.

How many of you guys/gals would like a thunderdome/wild wild west section ? Something along the lines of allowing us to have an expanded list of acceptable topics.

To me an expanded list of acceptable topics equates to wanting to bend the current rules, to conform to what you would like to discuss, things that currently violate the TOS. Wild wild west, no holds barred, semantics my friend. It will have the same end result, no matter what one calls it.

If one can't act like an adult in the Lounge, what makes anyone think that same person would act like an adult in a different folder?

If nudity and foul language are prohibited do you think theres a need to have an age restriction ?

P PYRU

I never said it was. I asked a direct question based on that quote, basically directed at viper, or anyone else that could explain the "new rules" part of his comment and somehow later on Jeff thought that I was talking to him. This seem to happen quite often. You guys are a little late to that party.
