I also picked up 3 convict cichlids and put them in their own 29 gallon, made a pair and took the other male out.

AND.......I picked up a gourmi and a mayan cichlid and put them with the convict in a 55 gallon for now.
Love seein updates in this thread, I have 2 normal, 1 albino and 1 green females ready to breed but wife would murder me if I set up a breeder tank(s) before my basement is remodeled. Good call on the double offset eggcrate, this will make my future attempts with a easier learning curve. Anyway, off to the basement.
Yeah, I heard they do, but all I have is the regular tiger barbs. The temp in the garage is hovering around 76 during the day and the water stays a nice 74 day and night. I had to arrange a few fans in the attic to disperse some heat and its working great to keep a stable temp in garage.

The female barbs are still gravid so they are still in there.
The convicts i believe have laid eggs in the grass because i rarely see her and he stays near the grass.
