Get a redfin or grass pickerel, just like a muskellunge but only grow to about a foot long. Letting fish go in the wild, even if that's where they once lived is NOT a good idea.

Where could I get a pickeral? I dont think any lakes in colorado have them. I could still get the muskie and put them in my pond when they get too big for my 125 gallon.

ill just release them in the local reservoir when they get too big and plus i have a pond as well

Never, never, never release aquarium fish into the wild. It's not legal, and is ethically and morally objectionable.

I've always wanted a northern pike, or muskie or pickerel or anything from the esox species. It's a shame they are not in the aquarium trade.
