This is silly. First off, you WILL NOT BE ABLE TO REGULATE THE SIZE OF ANY ESOX BY RESTRICTING FEEDS. You might be able to control it a smidgen but either you'll have a sickly esox or a large healthy one. Some fish do tend to "grow into tanks" but controlling a beast like this isn't reasonable.

I'm not the PETA type but why on earth would you get into a hobby where malnourishment is part of your intended care practice?

Hmmm.....Interesting thought process here.
I've got an adorable 2 yr old that I'd like to stay tiny and cute for as long as possible. Maybe I should cut down on her feedings?

Most people would say that if you pulled that with a cat/dog/horse/other pet it's definitely animal cruelty/abuse.....must be OK to do that with a fish.

It seems to me that you and your husband fancy yourselves Muskie people. Yet it seems like you don't know a whole lot about them.
If you truly love these fish (like I do) you'd leave these beauties in the wild where they belong....not in your 220 gal. Talking about your TMs on a site like this will get you flamed repeatedly by the majority of the responsible fish keepers on here. We all think Muskies are awesome, just not in your tank.

BTW, your "planned 1000 gallon" is still too small. I've got a 750 gal and wouldn't even think about "housing one till it gets too big". We all have made mistakes when it comes to fish keeping but yours is going to be a big one.

I'm sorry, I tried to stay quiet on this but it really bothers me.
