Tiger Oscar and Red Devil not getting along...need help

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
try to throw a female rd in there i had the same problem until i added the female i gues you can say he was "sexually fraustrated" lol. Now he picks on other fish but not to the point he is going to kill them. when they mate believe me your jd and oscar would not go over to where they have the babies.. If not i would give the rd away because once he kills one fish it is over nothing would be able to survive in that tank past 24 hours.

I'm not even sure if my Red Devil is male or female? I'm guessing you looked at the picture and saw its a male?

The tank is too small predator, i think that will cause alot more probs!

Errrrm no idea regarding price a 9 inch one was going for about 30 dollars converting from pounds here in the UK.. All depends if they are hard to get where you are or if someone has a big female and they need a male to breed.

Thanks! I'm not sure if the Oscar and JD are male or female either.

Oscars are really hard to sex you will need to vent to find out. but with the jd a good way is if it has blue on its gills plates.... No blue is male not 100% but a good marker.

Oscars are only aggressive when it's towards there breakfast lunch or dinner when you're looking for tank mates it's tough because there so easily bullied I had a small convict that use to bite the oscars fins and he was a lot smaller! Your jack may end up a bully when the rd is gone

@carl What do you mean vent it out?

@ Breid What do you suggest I do? I am worried about the JD bullying the Oscar, but when I separated the tank I put the JD and the Oscar on the same side and they seem to be getting along fine now.

Venting is when you net the fish and look at its bits i have never vented before but there is alot of info on here.

With regards to tank mates uts alot of trail and error. What works for you might not work for someone else
