Yeah, I knew that...even a couple of the other ones are symmetrical as well.
I noticed he had HLLE when he was younger, when I bought him. He actually a lot better than he did. He was a "rescue" from an lfs that was losing them left and right because their tanks were disgusting.
He's in a 150 gallon tank which gets a 50% water change every four days. His staple food is the Hikari Gold pellets and he gets fresh market shrimp, krill, herring fillets, haddock fillets, and the occasional shiner for exercise.
Anyone have any tips now that he is an adult and still has that scaring?
I saw that there were a couple of questions earlier in the thread...figured I would answer them.
1. He's just shy of 15" so that 150 is starting to get a little tight. I haven't decided what I'm going to upgrade that tank to. I'm thinking of doing something in the 300 - 400 gallon range for now...around 8'x3'x2'.
2. I've had him for about 5 years...going on six. He was a "rescue" from a now out of business lfs. I never took any pics when I first got him and it kills me because I wish I documented that growth.
Here are some pics of my 3 adult Oscars without any sign of ever having HITH or LLE, is it really that rare to see an Oscar without the wounds of these diseases?
nice pick up...just for the record mine is about ten inches and has all his stripings still...he is nowhere near all orange...definately a nice pattern to stare at for now ...hopefully he keeps the pattern at least a lil bit
Nice O's. Thanks for the heads up everyone, I try and take good care of my boyz. Every now and then they'll have a nick in their head. I think this is from banging into one of the HOB's. It goes away.
