Got a 8 to 9 inch tigrinus a week and a half ago. I have him alone in a 100 gallon tank. Lfs was feeding it feeders. Decided i dint want to feed live so i drop slices of fish every night on lights off. He hasnt touched the fillets since. Just wondering how long he can go without food. It seems he has not lost weight or anything but am worried about him. Thanks in advance.

I have a tigrinus my self about 12/13 inches long I've had him since he was a inch long and when I got him he was on guppies. Well I feed all my fish feeders once a week then pellets throughout the week it took him awhile to accept the pellets but he will if you can get them to sink he'll accept them easier

Mine is 10". I have starved him for over a week several times trying to get him on pellets and off of filets. So, I would fatten him up and then starve till he eats. I would wait a week before I even offered food. Leave overnight and remove in the morning. Are you dropping the food right in front of his face?

I have recently weaned two jurs off live foods. One took 3 months another 6 months of basically not eating -- http://www.monsterfishkeepers.com/f...-my-Jurs-off-live-(guppies)&highlight=guppies . Dangling a small frozen-thawed fish on a string in front of them would shorten this time significantly, perhaps by at least half. So, if you start with a healthy tig, a month or two or even three is nothing to worry about, imho.

Been starving mine for maybe a week and a half. And im getting worried already lol. I do the same procedure as you but cant drop food infront of his face at night because he does not stop swimming around the tank.

Wow thats great! I wish i could last that long without feeding my tig lol. 3 and 6 mos! woah! And i was already worried at 1 1/2 weeks of no food. I had to really read your thread just to assure myself they can go that long without food. Thank you very much for the info buddy.

Will do buddy.
Tried the fillet dipped in garlic juice and dangling on a string in front of his face today to no avail. Will keep trying and resist the urge of giving him live feeders. I hope he breaks before i do though lol
