the one that i got from peir i sold at the same time as the RTG to the same guy i think that tig is up to 19-19inch now
i know people think its crap but that tig never had the hump
Tigrinus is not suitable for a tank. I 've seen several tigs about 36" but they always were wild caught ones. They were kept in a 5000 gallon tank and still the same symtems aftter a few years they swim to the glass till they are dead. Over here in europe they don't sell them that often anymore the hype is gone. I don't know anybody who had them longer then 3 years with one exeption of 5 years. And we will all try it several times and learn the hard way beceause it is such a beatifull fisch.

I fear for mine.. He eats like a champion, but he does so much glass swimming he is thin at all times... He is about 6" and eating black worms and shrimp.. I probably over feed him also... I'm talking three times the black worms I would think he should get and he will eat till he is about to explode.. But then he will do hours upon hours of glass swimming and be thin...
I saw T1's tig in the flesh this evening. It's big, beautiful, healthy. Saw it snap up a couple of prawns.

Unknownusa - most dats are caught in pure freshwater. Silver Datnoids (Quadrifasiactus ) are semi brackish and some salt in the water would do best for them. I have not seen (so far) dats being aggressive at bottom dwellers. I would also agree with tikkarmans advise against mixing catfish together. Sometimes it works but its a gamble when a tig is involved.

red - I gathered that T1's point about Tigs dying was that it was especially strange given that no other fish just die on him, so there must be something up with tigs specifically.

Funkier than a RTC and not as obscenely large.i have to agree there is something fishy with the tigs t1karmans had when there in a tank with rays no one can blame water quality, and a uk mag practical fishkeeping did say tigs are now captive bred with hormones , tigs also won't get 36" in captivity and if thats true id love to see one.. ive seen some pics of tigs in well ovecrowded tanks especially in the monster fish keepers books, it must be something genetic, place of capture maybe some hardier than others due to maybe interbreeding brothers and sisters maybe some tigs get trapped in the same gene pool, obviously im no expert just speculating
