Tigrinus vs juruense with asian aro?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Food for thought: I tried mixing clown loaches with my juruense once. The jur LOVED the taste of them.

Lol guess they are out then, they're not the cheapest way to feed a cat haha
I still think in a very large tank, adult clown loaches could be fine with an adult tig/jur but I cannot be 100% sure, having never tried it myself. The problem with the clowns is that they grow so slowly and adults are very expensive.

Chicxulub, what were the sizes of yours and what size was the tank and were there hiding spots?

IDK of any significant behavioral or rearing differences between a tig and a jur. If anyone does, that'd be interesting to hear.

My Tig and Jur got along fine, they just stayed at opposite ends of the tank. They fed the same, ate the same things, literally grew at identical pace. Even learned to come out and feed with the light on. Only issue is the Jur learned to avoid the rays. The Tig didn't and became fodder for the rays. :(

Tig may be an eye catcher but Jurs can get quite attractive in their own right.

At the time my jur was ~7" and the CLs were about 3". I had a sand substrate with a bunch of rock work and driftwood for the loaches to hide in. No matter what I did, it always seemed as though the jury would always get them. The jury would tripod up and hold still like they do and the loaches would be out and about and would apparently not recognize the cat as a predator time and again and would swim right up to her. Then slurp, up goes the loach lol

Its amazing what they can inhale. My Jur when he was 9" got two 2.5" red head geos and swallowed them whole. Thought his belly would explode.
And they are quick, if something swims. Close that they perceive as food they just snap out quickly and catch them.

We are all in the same boat, guys. My 3' TSN named "Terroristo" cost me $30 but has eaten/killed about a grand worth of other fish in a 4000 gal pond - fish I actually paid for, not freebies.
