I have a baby tig now at 82...Still eating and still alive contrary to what this vendor says: They will stop eating and just roll over at those temps especially the smaller ones.

Once upon a time he also told me that rays like being in a small tank.

hey rook PM me who this is....

ive seen them in tanks with good airation at 86f temps with no problems

they can be kept over 75 degs but as advised you need lots of aeration and do not overstock.
i lost a tig a couple of summers ago when we had a heatwave here and at first i kept the blinds closed as the tank is close to a window.
the blinds were opened but not by me and the temp went well over 90 degs during the day and the tig blew up and eventually died after a few days.
i have pics somewhere showing what happened to it.
i had 4 filter running and all of them moving the water surface, the problem is the warmer the water the less oxygen it will hold and it does not matter how much aeration you add.
they may do well at these temps in a large tank with not many fish but overstocked tanks imo would be a no no.

That guy was an idiot he attacked some dude on that same thread because he didnt understand what the guy was saying.

Spot on Dixon, theres temperatures that the fish will tolerate and theres the temperatures that suit them best. For instance the higher temp will speed up their metabolic rate making the fish much greedier,a catfish on a full stomach requires more oxygen to digest its food, ever noticed how the gill repetitions are much faster shortly after feeding.Like Dixon says,if the tank has a huge capacity then theres plenty of oxygen for the fish to extract,if it doesnt the fish becomes agitated causing it to regurgitate with disasterous results, ever wondered where all those baby redtail cats get too.?

Seen the thread aswell. I have 6 Tig's here now. And i'm positive 75 is to cold! They get ick at the drop of a hat. That guy is crazy!
