Hi MFKers,
i'm searching for frozen tilapia filet, but don't find any at my local stores.
Does any one know, where to buy frozen tilapia in Germany (Bavaria)?
It would be a great help :D

Grocery store...? Any cheap frozen white meat fish should do if just looking for fish food. I dont live in Germany though.

Unfortunately the grocery stores around here don't sell tilapia (except of one, but it's marinated).
The only frozen freshwater fish meat i found was pangasius...but i don't know if it's as good as tilapia...
But if you say white meat, there would also be cod and coalfish...but that are salt water fish...

Plus more oily
Is it? I tried it a few years ago and that might have been one of the reasons I didn't get it again besides my fish didn't seem to take to it.

Pangasius is a good part of my Aros' diet, I personally don't find it oily but can't compare to tilapia as haven't fed it, I don't really see it in the stores here. I've tried cod, haddock and sea bass, for some reason both Aros clearly prefer the pangasius. Compared to these the pangasius also seems not to flake apart as easily, so less messy, but just my personal experience.

Also OP it's perfectly fine to feed fish from the sea (in fact some say it's better, because if there happened to be any pathogens in the fish, being saltwater based they wouldn't easily survive in our freshwater tanks).

I wouldn't recommend pangasius, I've tried it it's very fibrous and fish that ate it pooped those white tough fibers undigested

What kind of fish are you feeding it to? Personally I've never seen as you describe, my Aros' poop is always normal, perhaps different fish might react differently.
