Tilapia Filet Germany

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
As a note i notice my blue acaras get white fibrous poo with most meatier foods. Even worms. Nothing predatory in the tank though so i dont really give a lot of meat

Hi, still looking for tilapia in Germany?
Edeka has some frozen filets, at least in Berlin.
But they have super markets in Bavaria too.
Viel Erfolg!

You are technically correct, scientifically they are different fish.

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pollock

However the food industry does not always make the distinction. Also, Alaskian pollock is something else entirely.

Dont know about the food industry in the states but here in sweden there are really strict regulations on foodfish.

If you buy alaska pollock thats what you get. The foodmanufacturers have to put what species where its been cought and how its been cought on the package.

these are type of fish i feed my rays with no issue.. is it a must to only buy tilapia?

sea bass fillet (makes the top of water very oily)
pangasius fillet (oily)
yellow tail scad whole fish (smelly)
squid (a bit dirty due to ink but have to remove the centre bone)
anchovy (smelly)
frozen deshelled prawns (least problems of all)
mussels (makes water abit cloudy)
oyster (makes water cloudy)

Why is everyone find pangasius to be oily?:)
I never seen any oily film on the water after feeding pangasius. Herring on the other side thats an oily fish and smells but my rays goes nuts for it.
As for prawns/shrimp i never deshell them. Always feed with the exosceleton.
Mussels i agree can cloud the water alittle bit but with my beadfilter that goes away quite quickly.
Ive feed my rays cod from time to time and that is quite oily and always leave an film with some foam on the water. So usually i feed herring or cod right before wc:)

for pangasius, it's oily to the touch... water wise i think still ok
seabass, very oily to the touch... and top layer of water there will be a flim of oil. and my coarse filter will have a layer of oily gunk
prawns - it comes deshelled. most econmical. those with shell includes head and guts
anchovy and yellow tail scad (gutted). i cut it up but throw all in, including head
oysters are much worse than mussels when come to making the water cloudy

all does goes away fast with the filter
