I gotta couple new tanks coming in and you really got me thinking tile. I wasn't a fan but I think its because I never saw a tank with tile that I liked. I'm figuring barebottom or tile...What's the difference...tile only helps with beneficial bacteria! I really like that number three...may have to get the name from you...and don't worry, I won't be copying because I'm a ray guy...not a Pbass guy so our tanks won't look similar at all;):ROFL::ROFL:

it's a 400g, hence the title; "tile for the 400..." ;) not sure what kind of soft shell that is

Like duhhh....Pardon me my brain stops working for a second there. Your 400 seems alot bigger than my 500 for some reason. What's the dimension?

^ ha no worries. it's a 6x3x3 :)

what size are the tiles? The bottom of my 180 is pretty scratched. And tile would save me from buffing the bottom:)

do the tile then add some sand on top for the turtle

Sounds like a horrible idea.

I'm gonna have to say #2 cause I like the dark barebottom look. The bottom dweller won't darken up too much, trust me ;).

You might want to bounce a flash off the peaces to see if the colors would effect your shots!

yeah i dont really use the camera flash when taking pictures, but thats an interesting point. the light on my tank really lightened up the tiles

these are the standard 12" tiles. most places carry all sizes, up to 2x2

yeah i dont think sand would work. its hard to find really dark tile. i went to lowes and home depot. #3 was the darkest i could find but it looks so light under water and with a light top of it
