time for rehousing?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Depends, are you trying to actually raise the fry. If so ya take them out now. If not just monitor and make sure mom and dad don't tag team attack.
im more of just letting the parents become better at parenting , i plan to use one of these parents in my upcoming blue gene experiment, if i notice tag teaming ill rehouse

My 55 is set so the swordtails/Roseline's eat off the cichlid fry. The cichlids return the favor and eat the others fry. So everyone stays busy breeding and leaves the other fish alone.

now that they are free swimming around the female is currently running around eating up some of them currently for some reason

They probably are not eating them. When the fry wander too far mom or pops will what looks like eat them. But they just take them back to the bottom of the swarm and spit them out.

Nice. That’s always the most fun stage. As they grow bigger you may notice the numbers slowly diminish. The parents usually eat the weak or sick before they have a chance to get too big. Not to mention the occasional snack lol.

If you want them to grow up make sure you do wc often. The fry will be releasing pheromones that will later shape who is who in pecking order. Some will be almost doubling in size almost over night and others will take months to get to the same size.

Great updates. Thanks for posting
